With a small yawn, the black tom rose to his paws, his amber eyes gleaming. Just like another day, He thought, with a small yawn. His mother a Clan cat, Bellsong had left him in her new love's care. Drake, The thought of the burly brown tom made him shudder. Panther hated Drake! He ran away with a small white she-cat called Starch, and was now the father of two young cats called, Pumpkin, and Pie. Both cats were fat, and spoiled. "Sir, are you awake?" A voice called. Panther quickly rose to his paws, and gave himself a quick grooming, "Come in!" A young brown she-cat padded in, and sat down. "Flight," Panther meowed, smiling at his mate. His amber eyes shone with concern. "Anything wrong?" He and Flight had been mates for a short while, yet he couldn't help but act like it had lasted for longer. "Nothing, Panther." Flight replied, nuzzling him in greeting. "The patrols have been set out." She told him, looking relieved. "Great, dear! How's your first day as being second in command?" He asked, "Fine." Panther nodded, looking relieved. "I think I'll go for a walk." He mewed, rising to his paws, "Dismissed." Flight hurried out, leaving Panther alone. "A walk." He mused, his eyes gleaming. A lot of things can happen in a walk, right? He wondered. The day was the usual busy camp, in the Cats Of Shadows. There was White, and Breeze laughing together, while their kits, North, South, East, and West played. Fighters, and Hunters were talking happily, and many were laughing away. Panther quickly walked out, thinking quietly to himself. Where to go? What to see? He thought, breaking into a run. A scent caught his nose. The black tom's eyes rested on a pretty white she-cat, with snowy blue eyes. "Who's there?" The she-cat whispered, "Panther, head or leader of Cats Of Shadows." He replied, but couldn't help eying the she-cat. "Snowfox, warrior of MarshClan." She murmured, raising her head. "Can't you see?" "Sadly, no. A hawk scratched my eyes when I was a apprentice." She replied. "Oh really? I'm sorry..." Panther mewed, Snowfox purred, "You seem like a nice cat, Panther." She mewed, softly. Panther blushed, "You too, Snowfox." He mewed, but couldn't help gazing into her eyes. "Could you meet me here tonight?" She asked, her ear twitched. "Yes!" The words burst out from his mouth, "Great!" Snowfox rubbed her muzzle against his. "I'd better be off then!" She ran off into the border. Panther stared after her, his eyes shining. He forgot about his Flight in a thrice, suddenly a small voice inside him spoke, You traitor! Loving a Clan cat, when you have your own mate? Suddenly Flight hurried up to him, "Panther! There you are!" She meowed, licking his shoulder hurriedly. Panther felt a guilty feeling overflow him, as he turned away. "Yes, Flight? Please organize a border patrol for MarshClan." He mumbled, Flight nodded and blinked, before dashing off. Oh, grand cats who live in Silverpelt, help me. He thought Chapter 2 A yowl of delight met Snowfox as she entered camp. It was a normal day as usual, Forestgaze and Hawkeyes were chatting away, and ignoring her. "Snowfox! Your back!" Thrushflight purred, looking relieved. "I was on your tail, until you veered off into Cats Of Shadows territory," She lowered her voice to a whisper, "What were you doing there?" She asked, Snowfox tried to look casual. "I smelt catmint, and wanted to get some for Moonpuddle." She mewed truthfully. Catmint was running low on MarshClan territory, and their was one sick elder called Poppyheart who needed treatment fast. Panther'll let ne take some, right? He's so sweet. She thought. Thinking of the handsome black tom with black spots and amber eyes, made her go all jittery. "Well, lets hope those cats will let us have some." A new voice joined them, Snowfox looked up annoyed, and puzzled. Who was interuppting a coversation? Smelling a herb-scented cat, Snowfox dipped her head respectfully, "Moonpuddle! What did you interrupt that for?" She asked, raising a eyebrow. The sweet, calm medicine cat was normally the last one to interrupt a good chat. "I couldn't help but overhear the word catmint, and Cat's Of Shadow's together. And then I put two and two together," She mewed, apologetically. "Catmint is horribly hard to find. Those new kittypets, Drake, Starch, Pumpkin, and Pie are quite fussy." She dropped her eyes to the ground. Snowfox frowned slightly, "Those kittypets? Their nothing but food, and milk!" She spat, digging her claws in the marshy ground. "They can't even hunt a mouse, I do believe." Moonpuddle looked worried, "But they are quite protective. I've tried sneaking into their garden, but they scented me," She sighed, "Those mouse-brain's can't even spare a leaf, or a single stalk." Thrushflight looked bewildered. "But how? Kittypet's scenting?" She mewed, shocked. Moonpuddle flicked her tail, and curtly nodded. "Why don't you bring some warriors, with you?" Snowfox suggested, "I'll organize something, I promise." She smelt their doubt, and lashed her tail crossly. Every cat thinks I'm not trained! She thought, exasperated. Thrushflight licked her ear, "I'll help." She promised, "And hey! Risingpath was looking for you," She smiled, and flicked her ear. Snowfox pictured the coal-black tom and shrugged. "Nah, I don't want to meet him." Chapter 3 "Why are you acting so weird?" Flight asked Panther, her tail tip twitching crossly. Panther stared at the ground, Moonhigh, He thought, a small smile flickering on his lips. He couldn't wait to see Snowfox! "Well, Panther?" His mate's voice cried out in the night air. "Why?" Panther looked at her, annoyed. "I'm just... tired, okay?" He meowed, trying to keep the disgust hidden. Flight shrugged, "Fine. Why don't you rest? I'll have a walk with Fury," She mewed, ruefully. "No! I'll come with you," Panther mewed, edgily. He hated Fury. Fury was a handsome fighter, with a white pelt, and scorching blue eyes. Fury and Flight were long-time lovers until Panther came along, and stole the show. Flight purred, briskly. "Great, I knew you'd have a change of heart." She purred, sweetly. "Fine, but lets come back before moonrise." He mewed, icily. Flight looked surprised, "I was kidding, dear!" She meowed, her eyes lit up. "Fury is a good friend, not my secret love or something. He's just going to take over if you decide to break up with me." She smiled. Panther looked brisk. "Okay," He mewed, uneasily. "Great! I'm glad thats cleared up." She smiled. Panther hurried back to camp, seeing the moon rise was a pretty event. Watery shafts of silvery light appeared, and shone, lighting up small rocks, and anything visible. His amber eyes brightened, the meeting was closer than ever now.... The night sky shone clearly, brighter than ever. Panther padded out to the border, his gaze set on the white emerging shape. A pair of blind blue eyes were visible, but they glowed with warmth, and happiness. "Snowfox!" Panther dipped his head respectfully; his amber gaze shone in the starlight. Snowfox smiled, and licked his cheek in greeting. "Panther," She whispered, "Will you spare my Clan catmint?" Her pleading voice broke through the black tom's ears. Unable to bear her pleading, and meowed softly, "Take all you want," He licked her shoulder. "I'm glad you asked me first." He added, smiling at the pretty she-cat, who merely dropped her gaze to her paws. "Panther," Snowfox finally meowed, "What am I doing here, I ask my self, yet I do not know. StarClan has asked me to stay loyal, and serve my Clan as a warrior; not meet a Rouge Group cat at moonhigh." Her reporachful gaze rested on him, and for a fraction for a second he thought that she could see. "But," Snowfox continued. "I can't stop thinking about you, and..." She trailed off, sadly. Panther tore the ground up in furstration. "But..." He stammered, licking a paw. "You love me," The words burst out from his lips. Silent shock seemed to claw the blind she-cat. "Well yes, facts meets facts, I do." Chapter 4 Snowfox tore through MarshClan territory, a bundle of catmint in her jaws. Another jawful was tucked neatly under her chin; making the blind she-cat's efforts harder. "Honestly," she muttered, collapsing into the medicine den. "Moonpuddle, Moonpuddle!" Moonpuddle peered out from her nest, her tail-tip twitching. "Snowfox? What can I do for you?" She asked, scrambling to her paws.
